WHAT YOU WILL BE A PART OF
WHAT IS INCLUDED
The Program Fee is €350 per week and includes the following:
- Nacala Airport or Bus Station pickup
- Accommodation, linen, towels, basic toiletries
- Training/orientation:

Coral reef and mangrove ecosystems, biology, and species identification.

Field-based techniques for coral and mangrove restoration.
-
Underwater identification of reef species, threats, and habitats.

Monitoring methods to support long-term ecological databases.
- Activities
-
Monitoring coral reef transects.
-
Maintaining/cleaning coral nurseries and artificial reefs.
-
Maintaining and replanting mangroves, including seed collection (seasonal).
-
Assisting with aquaculture initiatives in fishing villages (sea cucumber monitoring).

Supporting Mulala Marine Sanctuary’s pilot sea cucumber farm (cleaning and repairing enclosures and nurseries).

Participating in environmental education with local , villages and youth programs.

Recording collected data in Sanctuary databases.

Assisting with daily tasks such as beach clean-ups, gardening, social media, and scuba tank filling.

Volunteers must stay a minimum of two weeks but are welcome to stay twelve weeks.
In collaboration with Ossimba Beach Lodge, we offer volunteers the opportunity to do a PADI Open Water course at an extra fee of $420. Volunteers wanting to complete Scuba Diving Certification must book at least three weeks in advance.
LIFE AT MULALA MARINE SANCTUARY
The daily schedule may vary. Please be flexible, daily life in Mozambique revolves around the weather, family, boats and tides. Embrace the island style way of life and don’t get into a hurry. Enjoy the adventure of getting to know the ocean and all it's secrets.

Accommodation consist of three units:
1) 1 x Three bedroom unit with bathroom and veranda.
2) 1 x Two bedrooms with private ensuite each, communal kitchen, living area, guest toilet, scullery and netted veranda
3) 1 x Dorm unit with four beds bathroom and coffee area
All units have aircons.
